ECO-FRIENDLY – DOING THE WORLD AND YOU A LOT OF GOOD
Our Eco Range
We supply complimentary NZ made Forest & Bird NZ Botanical Skincare – Body Wash, Hand Soap, Conditioning Shampoo and Body Lotion. A portion of the price goes to support Forest & Bird’s work in protecting our native animals and wild places, on land and in our oceans.
These are free from animal by-products and made with certified sustainable 100% vegetable base, and recyclable materials. Our motel participates in the Back 2 Base soap recycling programme. It converts our leftover soaps into Bio-fuel and commercial cleaning agents.
Sustainability
You can help too. Recycling bins are available in all our units and we encourage you to use them. You can also reduce our water and power use by choosing a “green service”, keeping your towels when staying several nights (we replace them if they’re on the floor, but not if hung up), and turn off lights and heaters when out.
We are changing to LED lighting throughout our property, reducing electricity consumption.
We have reduced our paper usage in our office – our aim is to use as little paper as possible.
All rooms have efficient wall heaters. Set the thermostat to a comfortable temperature. You can turn them off when you are out to help save electricity consumption.
All rooms have efficient extraction fans in the bathrooms so humidity does not build up, improving the atmosphere.
DreamTicket Mattress Toppers are on our beds, they are a sustainable choice made from Grade-A recycled plastic bottles. One mattress topper recycles and saves 30-56 plastic bottles from oceans and landfill.
Our partially used NZ Forest and Bird soap is returned to the manufacturer for recycling. It is converted into Bio Diesel and biodegradable industial cleaners. Plus our soap is biodegradable, and will cause no harm to the planet if it is disposed of through our normal waste collection.
